E. Pearle - Artist/The Birches/Old engraving
Posted by: Frances Daniell Hough (ID *****8169) Date: April 27, 2003 at 18:01:40

I recently located a beautiful engraving by an artist signed only as E. Pearle with the name of picture as:
The Birches.

Lovely work and I am wondering if this picture may have been painted by one of the viewer's ancestors...it is signed in pencil (not a copy as far as I can tell) and appears to be a lady's handwriting. Of course, I could be wrong about that part.

There is no date on this engraving but it looks fairly old.

Does anyone have a Pearle relative in the family - with the first name beginning with and E??? Pearle. Pearle could be her married name as well.

(The mystery artist becomes much more elusive if that is the case.)

The artist signed her (or his) name with the "e" on the end.

Any help will be appreciated.

Fran in SC
