Pearl family in Nova Scotia

My computer shut down after posting on this site in 1998, hence I only read replies last night.
I have made no headway in finding the origins of John Pearl d.1844 in Kings Co., Nova Scotia. Nor have I been able to connect the Tancook Pearls to us or the Planter family, David Pearl, son of Timothy who emigrated from the US to Yarmouth, NS.
David Pearl, Senior had two sons, David Jr. and James. David bought land at a time when his son James was only 2 years old. One J. Pearl witnessed the purchase. We supposed that J. Pearl could have been David's half-brother John and that he later came to Kings Co. and settled there. But the dates don't work out--(it would mean John died at 119 years of age). Someone told us that David Pearl was offered a land grant in Kings Co. but he never went there. In 1796 he took his family back to the US.

Its possible that David Jr. came to Kings Co. His middle name may have been John and he used that name instead of David. Does anyone have any information on David Jr.? Did he return to the US with his family? What was his middle name? Did he marry and have children? Anything.
