Pearse Family from Withicomb, Somerset (near Minehead)

Dear Fellow Pearses: I am Richard William Pearse, of Chicago, and new to the site. My Great Grandfather was George Pearse, originally of a small hamlet called Withicomb (near Minehead), Somerset, UK, who moved to Ontario, Canada (near Windsor)at age 16, about 1850's. George's father was John Pearse, a carpenter, born and died in Withicomb. George had a brother, Henry Pearse, who stayed in Withicomb, and raised 15 children (two wives), some of whom were still living when I visited in 1990.

George had 4 sons, Forest (my grandfather, born 1885), Russel, Charles and Donald. My grandfather moved to Michigan in the early 20th Century, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Although the Taunton, Somerset phone book was "lousy" with Pearses, I understand that several of Henry's sons and daughters became part of the great Pearse diaspora, leaving for Australia, Western Canada etc.

Any Pearse links out there to "my" Pearses of Withicomb?
I would be delighted to hear and connect to any geneologies that trace backward from John.

Richard
