       There was a Henry PEARCE, son of Anthony PEARCE, of Calne, Wiltshire, and Katherine (maiden /name unknown) b: circa 1673, who was bound for 7 years to Francis SMITH, gentleman of Devizes, Wiltshire, by his widowed mother, then of Devizes, in 1685. Henry arrived in this country in Oct 1685 aboard the Unicorn as a bound servant. Francis SMITH and wife, Anne, maiden name unknown, settled in Kennett, Chester cnty, PA circa 1686 in the area later split into Pennsbury twp.
       Henry later married Sarah SMITH, dtr of the above Francis SMITH. He was instrumental in the establishment and erection of St Paul's PE church in Chester cnty, PA circa 1704 by which time he had at least 3 children including a son also named Henry. The son Henry[2] married Sarah Hunter and the two Henry/Sarah PEIRCE families are often confused.
       The senior Henry PEARCE, spelled PEIRCE in Chester cnty, PA records, was the Exec/Admin for the estate of Francis[2] SMITH, son of the above Francis[1] SMITH, who died circa 1720 and who was the owner of Knowlewood in Cecil cnty, MD. Francis[2] SMITH's will was disputed, the Rev Richard SEWELL and 4 neighbors claiming that Francis[2] SMITH ordered a new will written while on his death bed in which he bequeathed 1000 acres of Knowlewood to St Stephen's Episcopal church (in Earleville, MD) for a free school for the area's children.
       I haven't been able to ascertain the final distribution of Francis[2] SMITH's estate as yet. Henry[1] and Sarah (nee Smith)PEARCE/PEIRCE took possession of Locust Point,Cecil cnty, MD which Francis[2] SMITH had purchased circa 1714, in 1725/26; a nephew of Francis[2] SMITH, Robert[2] EYRE, son of Sarah (nee Smith) PEARCE's sister, Ann (nee Smith) EYRE and Robert[1] EYRE who had immigrated to Bethel twp, Chester cnty, PA circa 1683, appears to have inherited 200 acres from Francis[2] SMITH's estate circa 1729/30.
       I've lost track of Henry[1] and Sarah (nee Smith) PEARCE/PEIRCE about 1733 in both Cecil cnty, MD and Chester cnty, PA.
       Their children were:
Catherine, bapt. 14 Jun 1704;
Henry[2], bapt. 14 Jun 1704, md: Sarah HUNTER circa 1729; d: Chester cnty, PA circa 1756.
Sarah, bapt. 14 Jun 1704;
James, bapt. 07 Mar 1707,
Elizabeth, bapt. 27 Nov 1713.
       Any additional information on the above Henry[1] and Sarah (nee Smith) PEIRCE/PEARCE or any further connections between the PEIRCE/PEARCE and EYRE families would be greatly appreciated. A nephew of Robert[2] EYRE migrated from Chester cnty, PA/New Castle cnty, DE to Berkeley cnty, VA/WV circa 1765, this branch of the EYRE family were Quakers.
