I have this earlier post by another Pearse relative,which provides a basic outline: Does anyone have information regarding a Robert Pearse who died in Northlew Devon County England on July 17, 1752? I'm also looking for information on Robert's nephew John Pearse born August 8, 1805 and married Ann Mill at Worlaton, Cornwall England on September 15, 1832. This John Pearse was a jeweler and clock maker in Swansea, England. John and Ann moved to St. Johns in Canada in 1842. In 1850 they moved to Whitewater, Wisconsin. Later he moved to Palmyra, Wisconsin and bacame a leading citizen and continued in the jewelry business until his death on September 1, 1893. John and Ann had a son, Henry Pearse, born at Ridgeford, Devon County England on July 1, 1833. They also had a daughter, charlotte. Henry married Mary Ellis at Whiteside County, IL and they resided in Palmrya, WI. Henry was gun smith. He died 1916 and is buried int eh Belvidere, IL Cemetary I was able to add additional information: Robert Piers d.July 17,1752,and buried Hatherleigh,Devon,England;willed estate to brother John Piers and his son John;will is held at the court in Exeter John Piers I married Mary Rud Feb 6,1746 at Hatherleigh John Piers II baptized May 4,1747;married Grace Burman,parish of Hartland,Devon;died and buried Hartland Oct. 5,1823,wife died 1833. John Piers III baptized in Hartland Dec.13,1771;married Mary Cann at Bideford about 1802. Children: Mary (1803-1812) John IV b. Aug 8,1805- died 1893 Charlotte (1808-1835) William b. May 12,1812;died at Newport,Wales Apr.28,1854 John Piers IV,married Ann Mill Sept 15,1832 Henry Pearse(1833-1918) Charlotte Pearse(1838-1924) Mary Jane Pearse (1842-43) Elizabeth Pearse(1844-45) I also have this mini biography: “The History of Jefferson County, Wisconsin”, published: Chicago: Western Historical Company. 1879. JOHN PEARSE, watch and clock maker and jeweler, Palmyra; born in Devonshire, England, Aug. 8, 1805; he served a five years’ apprenticeship at his business in England; opened a shop in Biddeford in 1833, and followed the business until 1845, when he came to America; began in business at St. Johns, Canada, where he resided until 1854, when he located in Janesville, Wis.; in 1858, on account of ill health in his family, he removed to his present location in Palmyra; he has the largest stock of watches, clocks and jewelry in the village. Mr. Pearse married Miss Ann Mill, of Cornwall, England, in 1832; they have two children – Henry and Charlotte. Mr. Pearse is a Republican in politics, and is in sympathy with the M.E.
