Good luck with your search. The Peats ( my husband's family ) seem very elusive - probably due to the fact that the name can be spelt in so many different ways ( Peate, Pete, Peet ) - and is often misheard and misspelt ( Peach, Peake, Pitt, Pidd ). I have not come across your Walter Peat at all. The only one I have come across of that name was born in Belper, Derbyshire in the March quarter of 1845 ( vol 19 page 435 according to free BMD).
I am also in touch with Drew and Ann Peat in the USA, whose Peats may well connect with the line I am researching in London and Devon.
Keep an eye on the PEET forum also.
