There are many variations in the spelling.
My maternal grandfather spelled his name Peveler. My great grandfather's name was spelled as Pevler. In his army records, the name was entered as Peesler. My great great uncle's name was listed as Pearler, in his cavalry service record. In a group of cemetery records I have found for Mercer Co., KY the last name was transcribed as Peurler and Peuler.
A great was dependent upon how the name sounded or appeared to the person doing the transcription.
