Is there a missing generation? Unless someone can provide proof that Lewis, Francis, Jacob and Christopher were all sons of Johann Franciscus Bibler, I am inclined to believe there is a problem with the lineage based on the following two documents.
Lewis Peebler in VA - The first record located (to date): Frederick Co. Va: Warrant and Survey 509 acres on drains of Hawksbill; adj. John Lienberger, Peter Fleck/Flick. Warrant has Jacoc Lommick adj. Chain Carriers - Alex Hay & Fleck. Surveyor - Peter Stephens. 20 Dec 1766 - 18 June 1768. Shenandoah County Va Deed On 28 Nov 1782, Lewis and Barbara to Charles/Christian Peebler, Francis Peebler and Jacob Peebler. The deeds represent a division of the 509 acres in the above 1768 land warrant with Christian receiving approximately 127 acres, Jacob 127 acres and Francis 131 acres, leaving approximately 124 acres which appear to have been deeded to John and Barbara Taylor, but for which no deed has so far been located. However, on 10 Sep 1799 in Shenandoah County, John Taylor and his wife Barbara sold to Frantz Bibler 127 acres, being part of a larger tract of land, formerly granted to Lewis Biblar by deed from the proprietors office.
It is important to note that the consideration for the first three land transfers was 5 shillings—a strong indication of parents deeding land to their children.
The question I ask, "Why would Lewis divide his land among his siblings when he still had young children of his own to care for?"
I think its possible that Barbara was not Lewis' first wife and the above land was divided among the children by a former marriage. Only one of the first five children is missing: Charlotte who married Jacob Wickell in 1774. I have a note that Lewis Pibler and wife transferred property in Rockingham to a Jacob Wesklin, but that deed hasn't been located.
