First Generation

1. Nicholas Adamson PEAY. Born on February 8, 1811 in "Flint Hill, " Fairfield District, South Carolina. Nicholas Adamson died in "Melrose, " Fairfield District, South Carolina on February 26, 1857, he was 46. Buried in Baptist Cemetery, Longtown, Fairfield District, South Carolina. Occupation: South Carolina State Senator 1856-1867. Education: South Carolina College/Columbia University.

On January 22, 1840 when Nicholas Adamson was 28, he married Martha Cary LAMAR. Born on January 8, 1820. Martha Cary died on April 9, 1851, she was 31.

They had the following children:

       3       ii.       Martha "Mattie" Lamar (1840-1872)
       4       iii.       Austin Ford (1844-1907)
       5       iv.       Thomas Lamar (1846-1916)
       6       v.       Nicholas Adamson "Nap" (1848-)
       7       vi.       Anna Elizabeth (1850-1927)


Second Generation

Family of Nicholas Adamson PEAY (1) & Martha Cary LAMAR


2. Mary English PEAY. Born on January 6, 1843. Mary English died in Fort Marion, South Carolina on May 18, 1899, she was 56.

Mary English married John Austin MEYERS, son of John Jacob MEYERS (January 29, 1800-July 20, 1878) & Sarah English PEAY (1805-March 6, 1866). Born on October 5, 1832. John Austin died in Fort Marion, South Carolina in June 1905, he was 72.

They had the following children:
              i.       William Randolph
              ii.       Holmes
              iii.       Rudolph
              iv.       John Austin
              v.       Nicholas Peay

3. Martha "Mattie" Lamar PEAY. Born on October 26, 1840 in Fairfield County, South Carolina. Martha "Mattie" Lamar died in Savannah, Georgia in December 1872, she was 32.

On 15 JUN 1859/1860 when Martha "Mattie" Lamar was 18, she married Gassaway B. LAMAR Jr., in Edgefield District, south Carolina.

They had one child:
              i.       Cassaway B.

4. Austin Ford PEAY II. Born on September 10, 1844. Austin Ford died on January 10, 1907, he was 62. Buried in Longtown Baptist Church Cemetery, Fairfield County, South Carolina.

On April 11, 1867 when Austin Ford was 22, he married Elizabeth CUNNINGHAM. Born in August 1846.

They had the following children:
              i.       Nicholas Adamson (1868-)
              ii.       William Cunningham
              iii.       Elizabeth
              iv.       Austin Ford (1872-1912)
              v.       Rebecca J. (1875-)
              vi.       Thomas Lamar (1878-)
              vii.       Gazaway B. (1881-1911)

5. Thomas Lamar PEAY. Born on July 21, 1846. Thomas Lamar died on August 13, 1916, he was 70. Buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, North Carolina.

On February 11, 1867/1869 when Thomas Lamar was 20, he married Martha C. "Pattie" DE GRAFFENRIED. Born on November 20, 1848. Martha C. "Pattie" died on June 1, 1921, she was 72.

They had the following children:
              i.       Mattie (1869-1877)
              ii.       Adelia Alston (1871-1877)
              iii.       Annie Dily (1874-)
              iv.       John DeGraffenried (1877-)
              v.       Ella Barrenger (1879-)
              vi.       Mamie "Mary" English (1882-)
              vii.       Lessie Ermine (1885-)

6. Nicholas Adamson "Nap" PEAY Jr. Born on September 24, 1848 in Fairfield District, South Carolina.

Nicholas Adamson "Nap" first married CUNNINGHAM.

Nicholas Adamson "Nap" second married Ellie BLAKE.

7. Anna Elizabeth PEAY. Born on May 31, 1850. Anna Elizabeth died in Chester County, South Carolina on September 8, 1927, she was 77.

In 1869 when Anna Elizabeth was 18, she married Richard VAN BRAY, in Savannah, Georgia. Richard died on May 30, 1927.

They had the following children:
              i.       George Lamar (1872-)
              ii.       Martha Isabella (1876-)
              iii.       Nicholas Peay (1877-1945)
              iv.       William C. (1877-1948)
              v.       Thomas Peay (1885-)
              vi.       Richard (1884-1939)
