I have been working on making a link between Col. Nicholas A. Peay and my family. My family is of African descent. While I have been doing my research I noticed that the Peay, Starke, and Rochelle families all have a link. My families last name is Starke/Starks. In the 1870 census my 3rd great grandfather Arthur Starke lived near, Austin F. Peay and his brother Nicholas A. Peay. They each resided at different addresses, but they were the only planters near my family. I have been wondering if they or they father's estate were the finally owners of my family and if so, how would I find estate records for Nicholas A. Peay, Sr. Where would I look for them and who would be the holder of such information? Also I am wondering if any other records are available for research that belonged to Nicholas A. Peay, Sr. If you could respond with some information I would be most grateful.

Thanks a fellow researcher:

Michele
