If you would check on the history of Austin Peay and family you will find that they had several Plantations on 19,000 acres of land, with more then 3,000 slaves until Shermans Troops burned them out, causing some of them to stay to rebuild and others to move on to other areas. You can check this out at the PEAY MUSEAUM in Columbia SC. Hope this helps.
