I am the director of the Fairfield County Museum (Winnsboro, S.C.) and a Peay descendant through Eliza Rosalie Peay who married my g g grandfather Thomas Lyles. I am very interested in documenting Peay information and especially would like to record the black side of the family here in the museum files. I suspect that Austin fathered some of his slave children too, as a friend found a document once suggesting that his wife had "left his bed" in some sort of family rift. I know African American Beltons, Peays, Harrisons of this area who must be kin if family traditions can be proven. I have only recently looked at some of the Peay materials (we have very little on file in the genealogy room here) when Betty Jo Peay brought in a Peay bible for me to look at. I am short staffed, so can't devote much time to helping, but will share what I know if you can be patient. -Pelham Lyles
