The following is probably from newspaper article; unfortunately, I neglected to note source!

Annie Peay Bray died 8 September 1927, in Chester, South Carolina. Her mother died in 1851, when Annie was only nine months old. Her grandmother, Mrs. Martha Cary Lamar of Edgefield, then took her to rear. Annie's father Col. Nicholas A. Peay died in 1857. Her grandmother died in 1864 (January). Her uncle Robert G. Lamar became her guardian until her oldest sister Martha Lamar Peay married G. B. Lamar; Annie then went to Savannah to live with her. Annie was married there May 31, 1869 to Richard V. Bray, by Dr. J. S. K. Axon, pastor of the Independent Presbyterian Church, grandfather of the first Mrs. Woodrow Wilson.
