I mis-wrote; I meant the John Middleton-Jane Ford marriage.

I have not done the research myself, but I have read that John Middleton and Jane Ford named a son Austin F. Peay. If so, perhaps Austin Ford Peay was the godfather to this son (and there was a relationship through Colonel Austin Ford Peay's mother Martha "Mary" Keziah Ford who married Nicholas Peay about 1783 since she was a sister to William Gardner Ford who married Magdalen Love).

Austin Ford Peay was a very wealthy man, of course.

The Fords and the Middletons and the Loves and the Peays are so 'tangled'! Naturally, there were the same given names in various generations (and sometimes the same generation!).
