Robt. J. Peay. Military Pension Application, 1st GA INF

I have recently found a pension application for Robert J. Peay. He applied on Nov. 7, 1898, and his widow Isabella J. Peay applied Feb. 27, 1899.

It indicated that he served with M (Co.?), 1st GA INF. The only other Peay that was with this unit at that time was Fred D (Davenport) Peay. Can anyone make a connection? Fred's wife was Lizzie, and in the 1920 census for Chatham Co., GA, they had children Arthur (c. 1904) and Eunice (? - hard to read) (c. 1905). Living with them was mother-in-law Lizzie (the surname is difficult - possibly Carr?).

I believe that Frederick was a child of theirs, and appeared on the 1900 census when Isabella was a widow. I can account for who I believe to be two other children of theirs, John Peay (c. 1887) and Tom (c. 1894) in Bathesda Orphan's Home.

Sincerely hope that someone is researching this line - it has been very difficult to follow.
Cheryl
