Are you aware that a biography of William Henry Peays, b. ca 1859, SC, son of Benjamin and Nancy (Campbell) Peays, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 948? It also includes portraits of William H. and his wife, Clara (Treadinick) Peays. The biography states he had a brother, George, living in Coke county, Texas.

The father, Benjamin Peays, moved from South Carolina to Texas before the Civil War and settled in Johnson County where he spent the rest of his life. He was a Confederate soldier, and with the exception of his army experience, lived a quiet life on his ranch until his death at age 45, in 1881. He married Nancy Campbell near Chester, South Carolina. She died during the childhood of William and George. George stayed in Texas and William H. worked for a ranch and drove cattle up into Montana. He became an early settler and rancher in the Powder River locality of Montana. On 18 Apr 1903, he married Miss Clara Tredinick, born in Iowa County, Wisconsin, daughter of John & Eliza Tredinick who immigrated to the US from England. William and Clara had no children but adopted a son, William D., b. ca 1925, Wyoming.

William H. Peays died 12 Jul 1932, Age 73, in Montana.
