My father is William Dewey Peays, he was the only adopted son of William Dewey Peay from Montana. His brother was Austin. It is said that William had put on his mail box The Peay's, and the apostrophe disappeared overtime and Peays stuck. William and Austin were brothers and Homestead in Montana, went to Alaska to find gold, which they did, and then Austin separated from his brother and went to Texas/Tennesse? and started Austin Peay College. That is the scope of what I have. Any info you might have would be great. I am not even sure these are connected in anyway. William Dewey Peay never could have children, so his wife's brother Bill Baker was homesteading down the road and when he and my granny split, William and wife took my father and adopted him as their own. They were very old and when my father was around 9 or 10 they both passed on, leaving the ranch to my father.
