I think you're right. I'm in contact with a Peco descendant who is in Baltimore who has Peca's that settled in PA. I'll forward your reply to her and keep you both in mind in case I ever get anywhere with this. From what I can find out, my gggrandfather came from Portugal. There was a Spanish nobleman named Peco (which was my maiden name, we got mixed up between Peca and Peco when my grandfather came to the US). Also the name means 'freckle' or 'spot'.
