SHROYER/ESSEX/IL & IA

I've restarted my search for ancestor Mrs Eleanor "Ellen" Peckham who m. Burnell P Peckham 1834, Marion Co, IN. I do not have specific info about them after the marriage.

My primary search is for Eleanor "Ellen" Essex d/o Isaac Essex who m. 1812 Ross Co, OH>Marion Co, IN>settled Warren (now Henderson), IL c1840. I have the Essex covered to present time! Isaac d. Mercer Co, IL 1873 at the home of his daughter, Eleanor Peckham!

In my earliest attempt to find them I found a Peter Peckham family on the 1840 Lee Co, IA census. Tried to find them in IA, never could find a connection in IA or IL. The census was for Half Breed Reservation, the families ages:
1 m under5, 1 m 10-15, 1 m 30-40, 1 m 70-80--1 f 10-15, 1 f 15-20, 1 f 20-30.
I was able to find some data about this Reservation, it was a trading post. Here I hit the Brick Wall for this research.

I later paid a researcher to search for Eleanor Peckham in IL, she found a marriage:
!IL Archives Marriages 1763-1900
SHROYER, JAMES PECKHAM, ELEANOR (MRS) 10/14/1860 00A/ 00001415 MERCER.
Was never able to prove this was Eleanor (Essex) Peckham or another person by same name.

The 1840 census always made me wonder if it wasn't two families rather than one. genbug@infostations.com
