Is their a new book out for the Pedens in America? And it is possible that Elizabeth Morton Wakefield is the dau of John or is it James Morton and Jane Peden. US & International Marriages-ancestry.com lists Thomas Wakefield m Elizabeth Morton{this is true} in 1785 and it lists Elizabeth's birthdate as 1765-these are records no one seems to look at because they are using Elizabeth Morton's in Chester Co., Pa of course the dau of John Morton the signer! And yes this does make her 2 the same age as the dau of John and Jane Peden Morton who came to America in 1767. Elizabeth Morton's history has been switched by those who want her to be related to the signer. But you do not respond or document your replies. And there really is a John Morton b 1729 Ireland who served as a del to provincal congress! Free site to look this up-Daughters of the American Revolution genealogy ancestor # A081813 for John Morton. David Morton in Hewell's book may be referring to as well as the info in his brothers record and "midnight meetings for the D of I' While at the public DAR site look up ancestor #A081814 for the other John Morton, the signer. There really seem to be 2 John Mortons and one is from Ireland so I would think an author of a new book might at least look at this. Maybe one of your ancestors? It does give some credit to those crazy stories told by those Morton siblings who lost their history to it. Cindy coetting57@hotmail.com
