Hi,
Information I have states that Andrew Jackson
was the 6th son of Volnez and Charlotte
Peel. A.J. had TB and wanted to migrate to
drier climate. His mother sewed a sum of money in the lining of his coat and he came to Austin, Texas in 1859. He rented a horse and started for New Braunfels. On the way he camped several days at a spring just south of the present town of Kyle. Then- he went on tho New Braunfels. He stayed there a while and then purchased a ranch in Blanco County where he ranched for several years.
He couldn't get the thought out of his mind of owning the land where the spring was located. He purchased several hundred acres
including the spring and named the farm- Spring Lake Farm.In about 1870, he married
Sarah Mather and in 1872 built a house on Spring Lake Farm.
I have personally seen the property and home.
I personally knew the lady, Mrs Jack Vaughan,
who wrote and narrated the information.
Mr. Vaughan was the son of Lottie and Walter Felix Vaughan. Both Mr and Mrs Vaughan are
deceased.
I am sending you this story because it is one of my favorite. I have more naratives,
The dates on AJ Peel are not too different
and I understand misprints occur. I have the exact dates of death, burial,marriage..
but I can't get all of this out now...
Hope this was not something you already knew.
I am interested in the AJ Peel ancestors and tracing them back as far as possible.
Later Dorothy
