VAN B. PEELE
RALEIGH -- Van Buren PEELE, 91, formerly of Goldsboro, died Saturday in Rex Hospital. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late George & Lillian LANGSTON PEELE and was married to the late Carrie Dixie BIZZELL PEELE. A graduate of Pikeville High School, he attended Oak Ridge Military Academy where he played on the school baseball team and later played semi-professional baseball. He was a retired farmer in the Saulston Community. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home of Goldsboro with Rev. Robert VRADENBURGH officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James HAYWOOD and Martha Anne PEELE of Raleigh, and Charles VAN BUREN and Carol Ann PEELE of Huntington, W.VA; three sisters, Laura Ellen BAUGH of Morehead City, Evelyn Kilton FALLON of Delaware, and Mary SHAPELY of Columbia; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Family members will greet friends Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome and the family request that memorial gifts be directed to The Salvation Army, 610 N. William Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
