Joyce, according to this:
Ella was the daughter of Washington Peeples and wife Madge Weaver.
All three mistakenly give Madge Weaver's birthdate as the same as her daughter's, but she must have been born about 1866.
I don't know that this is the same Washington J. Peeples who was next door to Joel Peeples Jr. in the 1860 Choctaw Co., Miss. census with his wife Mary Ann J. Kincaid Peeples and daughter Mary F., but it could be. Their second child, William Gaston, was born in 1861, and then Washington Peeples "never came home after the Civil War," according to a little family history by a Kincaid descendant. But I was told by the author that there was a rumor Washington had left his wife, she divorced him and then he married another woman after the war. Mary went back to Grenada County by 1870 to live with her relatives, the Kincaids. I have two other connections to Weaver families in Yalobusha Co., which makes me think your Washington Peeples who married Madge Weaver is probably the same Washington Peeples.
