Hi Tiffany,

I think I can help fill in some holes. I have a William F. Pegg. b. 1857 who married as a second wife, Margaret Orvilla Gearns (could be Kearns?) and they had a son named "Jack". Jack married Evelyn Tompkins and had nine children.

If this is your William and Jack, then you are a desendant of Isaac Pegg who came to Ontario from NJ and PA in about 1800. Most of the Peggs were loyalists during the Rev. War., but they were not officially listed as UELs. They came to Canada seeking homesteads and settled in East Gwillimbury, York CO., ONT.

Isaac had a son Nathan Pegg, b. abt 1789 in NJ (probably Sussex Co) and Nathan married Abigail Seagle/Sagle/Segar who is very possibly of Quebec(ian) descent.

Nathan and Abigail lived in York Co., ONT (in Scott Twp. for some time) and had 8 children. I am a descendant of their son Joseph, b. 8/16/1824. Another son was Henry Pegg, b. abt 1818 who married Anne Fox. (Joseph Pegg married Anne's sister, Margaret Fox)

Henry and Anne lived in Newmarket. THey had 7 children. One was William F. Pegg, b. 11/23/1857. THey were married at St. Mary's Church in Barrie, Ont, on 7/1/1890. I have the transcript of their marriage announcement from the Newmarket ERA. It says that Margaret Orvilla was the youngest daughter of JOhn Gearns of Oro, Simcoe.

If this is your line and you want more, e-mail me at
