Hi Jack,

Not much is known about this Samuel Pegg who married Catherine Hoagland. I would venture a good guess that he was the son of Elias Pegg who lived on the PA/VA border. Elias was born abt 1725, his wife is unknown, but I have a list of children (and there might be more):
Mary E.

I have found that most of these children later moved to Ohio and raised their families there.

Here are some notes I have on Samuel Pegg:

Samuel lived in Yohogania Co., VA/PA before moving to OH.

1807 Tax List for Jefferson Co., OH:
Samuel PEG listed for 1807
Elias Pegg listed for 1806 and 1807

Listed in the 1820 Census for Jackson Twp., Monroe Co., OH
Samuel (over 45)
Elias (16-26)
Both worked in agriculture. Elias could be a son or nephew.

Samuel Pegg married Catherine Hoagland on 5/12/1794 or 5/12/1792 (I have seen both of these dated in addition to yours!) in Washington/Fayette Co., PA by Circuit Rider James Hughes.

Elias Pegg (probable father of Samuel) was the son of Nathan Pegg and Mary Unknown (Mary married Richard Heath and John Parke after the death of Nathan). Elias had only one sibling, Daniel Pegg.

Nathan Pegg (father of Elias) was the son of Daniel Pegg Sr. of Philadelphia.

I would be very interested in any information you have that corrects or adds to what I have listed above. I would also like to know if you have any informatin on Catherine Hoagland--I have nothing!
