My GG Grand father is Martha Jane Pegg's brother Arthur B Pegg.
B.F. or B.W. Pegg was their father.
(I am still trying to figure out his full name)
Elizabeth Pegg was their mother, fr Kentucky, Widowed and remarried Joseph Ganow, misspelled in census as Garvon.
(I am still working on her maiden name)
Charles B Pegg was in Civil War, union side Indiana
Martha Jane Pegg Shigley
Mercia Ann Pegg (Mertie Pegg), has son in Michigan
Arthur B Pegg, married my GG grandmother Mary Purves in CA.
Edgar L Pegg
Johabe or Isaac or Josh or Joshua is Mary Tharp's husband, and I believe they ended up in Penn Indiana but were previously in Ohio, where I believe they had their family. They were so much older than the children living with them in the censuses that I think they took the kids due to hardship during and after the war. Elizabeth stayed on the farm in Mishawaka with Edgar and Arthur.
Arthur named his two sons, my GG uncles after his two brothers Charles and Edgar. He became an engineer for the railroads probably inspired by William Shigley when he lived with William and Martha Jane after his mother remarried Ganow. He worked in Oregon and California for the railroad and died at 45 years old in Sacramento, CA as far as we know.
Mercia Ann's name is very misspelled in all the censuses, but she married Edward Simpson and had two children Coral May and Charles Simpson. They came back to Mishawaka for a little while but then went back to Michigan.
These Pegg's are so hard to figure out. The key will be determining the actual name and parentage of B.F. Pegg and his mother and father and so on.
Since the Indiana Pegg's come from the North Carolina Nicholite Quakers you can be assured that they are invariably all related to each other.
The families all had something like 10 or more children each then each child did the same, so it looks like a lot of Pegg's, but it really just is about 4 to 6 main families all stemming from Valentine Pegg, Martin Pegg and their sons.
Good luck and if you know of anything about B.F Pegg please holler back.
