I don't know if this helps or not, but according to my dad's cousin, who is now deceased, their great grandfather, Antoine C. Pelletier/Peltier owned farmland that was located where Selfridge Air Field was. The story is that Antoine had served as a Captain in the Union Army during the Civil War and received a land grant of a section of Selfridge Field as payment for his service. I have never substantiated this bit of information, but I do know that Antoine(Anthony) and his wife, Terese Goulet, lived in Harrison Twp., Macomb County, Michigan. I suppose it could be checked out.
Something you said in your post to the Pelletier/Peltier Board also caught my attention. My grandfather always said that their family was 1/8 th Indian, but I've never been able to substantiate this. You mentioned a Chippewa connection in your family. Perhaps we descend from the same line? Let me know what you think.
