Did you know that, Pelkey and all of it's variants, (Pelky, Pelkie, ext..) All derive from the French surname, (Pelletier). This familly was one of eight major families to settle Quebec,Canada. When family members migrated to the US. They changed their names to Pelkey, Pelky, Pelkie, ext.
Maybe you could try looking for your ancestor under (Pelletier) also.
