From what my Mother has told me, my Grandfather, Agusta Pelliccia, on my Mothers side came from Subiaco, Italy. He married my Grandmother in London England and imigrated to the USA in 1905. My Mother was born in London in Jan 1905. She is still living and will be 100 years old soon. I have found information in London validating her birth and at the Ellis Island WEB site to validate their migration.
From New York, they traveled across the U.S. to San Francisco and left for Turlock, CA one month before the "Great Earthquake" of 1906.
My Gradfather died while I was very young but I remember visiting their ranch and having milk squirted in my face from a cow my Grandfather was milking. He also made wine and taught me early about wine tasting. When we visited, he would take me down in his cellar and give me a little taste of Port Wine. Like a good "part" Italian, I enjoyed it !!!
I hope you enjoyed my trip into the past. If someone out there knows more about my Grandfather and if he really came from Subiaco, I would greatly appreciate it.
