origin of the surname "Pelliccia"

The surname "Pelliccia" is very prevalent in the Naples, Italy area. Along with myself, my entire family is from that area.

As an interesting note, the word "pelliccia" means "fur" in Italian. It's very possible that in the distant past the name was acquired due to associations with furs in one way or another. I have not attempted to trace my family (on my father's side)further than the 1830's or so, although I have been curious a time or two as to who my ancestors were.
