I have been going through the index to the parish records of St. Pierre de Sorel and putting them into a gedcom format (with the hope of eventually selling it on a cdrom - if anyone would want it, of course).

Based on what I have seen (i.e., entries for all the records up to 1780), and the research I have done on my own family, the original Felix Peloquin was the son of Francois Peloquin dit Credit and Marie Niquet, and married Marie Pelletier dit Antaya in 1720 in St. Pierre de Sorel.

His children apparently started using the name Peloquin dit Felix, and later Felix dit Peloquin, or just Felix. There was little real consistancy - the same person may be refered to in all the mentioned ways in the bapstismal records of four different children.

(and if you think just this could be confusing, you should check out the Hus family with all of its derivative names...)

Well, at least they always used the wife's maiden name :)
