I am also interested in the same family. I had some documents from my husbands grandmother's side of the family which I cannot find right now. The Pelters came from England, and one of the first Pelters in VA in the Shenandoah Valley married a Rebecca Long. Her father was Capt. James Long who did the equivalent of a Paul Revere's ride in the Valley. He was a Revolutionary War hero and there is a museum at the Tinkling Springs Presb. Church that has his rifle. If my memory serves me correctly ( and I could be wrong Sampson was the one who was married to Rebecca). I used to have the email for a gentleman who had done alot of research on the family, but after a couple of computer crashes and upgrades, it is no where to be found. His last name was Yount and was from Staunton/Waynesboro area and was a private detective or something. My husbnds grandmother was a Pelter.
I will see if I can recopy the papers from my mother in law.
One of Sampson's descendants went with Admiral Bird to explore the Artic (?) and had an appendicitis attack and they did surgery on him while on the expedition. I think this was Nannies brother.
