The Macon Telegraph was referring to Josiah Pendarvis. He, his wife Anne Rumph Pendarvis, and a couple of their children were killed. Josiah was one of the younger children of Thomas Pendarvis, Sr. of Dorchester Parish, SC. Thomas was one of Joseph and Parthenia's sons. Joseph and Parthenia's daughter Mary Pendarvis (wife of David Rumph) was grandmother to the murdered Anne Rumph Pendarvis.
Josiah Pendarvis had been first married to Catherine Moorer, and had several children by her. He married Anne Rumph in 1817. Hugh Archer became guardian to Josiah and Anne's surviving children. Joseph Koger of Colleton, SC helped protect the children's slave estate to remain in the family.
