In September, 1850, Pike County, MS, Mahala Pendarvis is living with James Pendarvis (no middle name given) and their four children. She is listed in October, 1850 in Hancock, MS with James and their four children. In 1860, Mahala with three of her children is back in Pike County, MS. She is listed as a washer woman, and her son, Richmond is listed as a carpenter. Is there a record of the death of James? Have not been able to find Mahala from 1870 until 1900. Where was she? In 1900, she is living with Mary Jane Cook, her granddaugher in Pike County, MS. Mahala died at the home of this granddaughter on January 10th, 1904.
