Just wanted to add a few notes to your post. While I haven't yet found out exactly who founded the Pendarvis line you are researching I will add that there was a Henry Pendarvis in the 1850 census of Colleton Co. aged 10. He was the son of Joshua and Elizabeth Pendarvis. He would have been a little old to have been Matilda Harrison's husband, but certainly not unreasonably so.
In item 3 of your post the George Pendarvis who died in 1974 leaving a will was the son of Isaac Murray and Sally Traxler Pendarvis and not your line.
In item 4, the James Pendarvis you mentioned from SS records is also not your line. He was my grandfather, and I have his line well documented.
In item 5, the Joseph Pearce Pendarvis who died in 1920 is also not yours. He was the son of Preston John B. Pendarvis and from another well documented line. Your Joseph died on Dec. 29, 1943 and left both a death certificate and an obituary.
Hope this helps,
