Janet - Talley came from the name Taliaferro. My uncle was named Talley Jacob Pendarvis. He was born in Ft. Motte, SC in 1902 and died about 1968. He owned and managed Farmer's Chevrolet (a GM dealership) in Holly Hill, SC for many years
