THE BOYS LEAVE HOME

Information from "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia"...(Census Records, Court House Records of Glynn and Wayne County, Georgia) states that Richard Lambright Pendarvis'father died when Richard was very young and his mother remarried. Due to friction with the stepfather, Richard and two older brothers, William and John,(John may be the father of the Alabama Pendarvises.) left home. Their mother, being aware of their plan, assisted with their leaving. All three remained together for a while. William moved to MS. It is possible that John moved there, also. Richard Lambright Pendarvis moved to southern Ms where he obtained a good position on a large sugar plantation. He prospered, accumulating sufficient to settle comfortably on a farm in Wayne County, Georgia. He married Hester Ann Strickland.
