As you know, we're all descendant of Joseph Pendarvis who immigrated to Charleston, S.C. from County Cornwall, England in 1671.Records indicate he acquired land in Charleston in the late 1600s.He became well to do.His son John, first generation in this country also was a respected plantation owner. John's son Joseph apparently lived with a black or mulatto woman and sired many children. From there the lineage become less sure.According to Randy Floyd who has done much research on the family, because of this scandal a half brother changed his name in 1802 to Bedon and all remaining progeny were descended from the relationship between Joseph and Parthena.I am a tenth generation Pendarvis who still resides in S.C.I would be happy to send more information should you desire it.
