Thanks for the info ~
My John Henry PENDARVIS m. Matilda HARRISON b.c. 1865. She was from Adam's Run, Colleton Co, SC. Some records state she was born there, others state NC as birthplace.
Their children were:
Daniel P. PENDARVIS b. 1884
Lillie PENDARVIS b. 1886
George Robert M. PENDARVIS b. 1890
James Allen PENDARVIS b. 1891
Joseph R. PENDARVIS b. 1894
all born in Colleton Co, SC.
Matilda Harrison PENDARVIS moved to Charleston, SC after the death of John Henry PENDARVIS c. 1899.
I do not know if this is the same John Henry as in your records. The age difference is somewhat great. However, Matilda next m. John Henry SHOKES who was 11 years her senior (family tales say he was atleast 15-25 yrs older). My documentation shows otherwise.
So, we may have two John Henry's, or perhaps you have his father! Do you have more info on him and the last place he lived? His children?
re: John Henry, b. 5-8-1847, m. Sarah Haddox
John Henry above would had to have been abt 17 at the time of his son's birth (to be abt. the same age as Matilda). Do you know at what age he was married?
You did not mention too many locations. I know the PENDARVISes originated in SC. Perhaps they moved away, then returned to family land. I also know that there were several mixed marriages. I believe that during the Indian Removal period c. 1848 that many families fled, or hid so that family members would not be taken from them and moved to Indian Reservations.
That's enough for now...
