Pendarvis Family, Orangeburg, S.C.

I came across some information on the Pendarvis family, while researching some of my ancestors who live in Orangeburg. The Pendarvis name was on a Hasfort document. I was looking for Taylor documents and found the Hasfort connection on a Taylor document.
There are 15 land grant purchases, for Joseph Pendarvis, listed in the South Carolina Archives and his name is on many others. The first land grant was 1675 in South Carolina.
A very good source of information on the Pendarvis family is the CD, South Carolina Indians, Indian Traders and Other Ethnic Connections, Beginning in 1670, by Theresa Hicks.
Theresa Hicks writes, "In his will, he names his 'children of a Negro woman named Parthena deceased that lived with me,' as: James, Brand, William, John, Thomas, Mary, and Elizabeth Pendarvis (all under 21 years) and leaves amongst other items the acreage in Colleton County near Green's savanna."
Brand married Ursula/Sertina Jennings. She was the daughter of Gideon Zanini, an Italian, who changed his name to Jennings when living in Orangeburg. Phillip Jennings, Ursula's brother, married "a half-breed Indian woman," named Elizabeth. Joseph Hasfort gave permission for the marriage, as it was stated in one place that she belonged to him and in another that she was actually his daughter.
Joseph Hasfort married the widow of John Pendarvis.
Another excellent source for Pendarvis information is The History of Orangeburg County South Carolina, by A.S. Salley, Jr.
