Here's what one of my cousins recently sent me:
Eliza OWINGS (Samuel, Joshua, Joshua, Richard) was born June 04, 1806, and died March 16, 1881 in Ripley County, Indiana.She married William PENDERGAST March 22, 1827 in Nicholas County, Kentucky, son of Edward PENDERGAST and Mary ?.He was born September 06, 1805 in Nicholas County, Kentucky, and died April 04, 1876 in Ripley County, Indiana.
Notes:William & Eliza Owings PENDERGAST are both buring at *New* Washington Cemetery, Elrod, Ripley County, Indiana.
Children of Eliza OWINGS & William PENDERGAST are:
1.Mary (Polly), b. 12/11/1827.
2.Elizabeth, b. 3/19/1831.
3.Edward, b. 3/29/1833, Indiana; d. 6/13/1907, Versailles, Indiana; m. Catherine LOTSHAW 1/1/1856.[For more detail, please e-mail]
4.Lucinda, b. 9/1/1835; d. 8/7/1923; m. William BLAIR 2/21/1853.
5.Margaret, b/ 7/22/1839; d. 2/1/1925; m. William Wilson MCCABE 11/26/1857.
6.Zerelda, b. 12/6/1841; d. 4/7/1903; m. Enoch PETERS 6/24/1892.Notes for Zerelda:Enoch & Zerelda PETERS had a son named Orin PETERS.He married his cousin Ada Belle Harper (grand daughter of Robert PENDERGAST), and one of theis sons--Horace--"became infatuated with Miss Mabel Vanosdol and became angry with her when she would not return his love.He shot her while she was clerking in the L.O. Wilson Store at Osgood, Indiana and then shot himself.This happened 24 Apr 1929.Miss Vanosdol died 23 July 1929.Horace did not die and was found guilty of first degree murder and given a life sentence 30 Oct 1929.He was taken to Michigan State Prison immediately."This was taken from the Toph Papers - Indiana.The information was printed in the ___ Republican, 4/24/1929.Horace escaped from jail in September and was on the run for 2 days before he was caught. [my note: the Robert PENDERGAST mentioned previously is, I believe, a brother of William PENDERGAST & son of Edward PENDERGAST]

A side note:the information my cousin sent me traces the Owings line back to Richard OWINGS in the early days of Maryland.Some information on his parents, from Wales, as well.
