This is what I located at the following address:
http://www.mnhs.org/library/collections/manuscripts/wars.htmlhttp://www.mnhs.org/library/collections/manuscripts/wars.html
Genealogical information, correspondence, diaries, account books, speeches, sermons, scrapbooks, postcards, photographs,
and similar materials documenting the lives of William W. Pendergast and his extensive family, including the family of his
daughter Sophie, her husband Harry A. White (a lawyer and Unitarian clergyman), and their three sons: John, Stephen, and
Gerald. Pendergast was a pioneer settler (1855) of Hutchinson, Minnesota, an early Minnesota education official, and an avid
horticulturist. Papers for the 1832-1903 period relate to William, his wife Abbie Cogswell and her family, William's brothers
Timothy H. and Lloyd and their families, and William's sister Ellen and her husband Lewis Harrington. The families all settled in
Hutchinson, Minnesota. There is information on Pendergast's farming and real estate ventures and the Dakota Conflict (1862);
Civil War correspondence, diaries, and reminiscences of Timothy and Lloyd; papers regarding the University of Minnesota
School of Agriculture; correspondence documenting social life in Hutchinson; and general information on family concerns.
Sophie White's papers also include detailed genealogical information on the Pendergast and related families, including the
Farnums, Harringtons, Vyes, Greenbergs, and Cogswells, as well as Harry White's relatives, the Ely, Lewis, Lambertson,
Lippincott, and Stout families. Separate correspondence files for all family groups contain much information on family matters,
births, deaths, marriages, and daily routines. Reminiscences (1948-1959) of Laura Goldie Pendergast contain information on her
family, her marriage to Perly P. Pendergast, and her life and teaching work, with well-documented photographs. Later materials
(1904-1986) detail the activities of the family of Sophie Pendergast White. There is information on Harry White's South
American business ventures, including the Brazil Land and Development Company (1916); Gerald White's Marine Corps service
in World War II and his subsequent career as a journalist; John L. White's career with the Railway Express (1921-1971) and
membership in the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks (1936-1971); and Sophie's activities with the Tri-County
Publishing Company (1917-1936).
I would like to see pictures of this Pendergast family.
Michael
