My GGrandfather was William Penfold. He was born about 1836 (England) as far as I can tell but the date is not certain. He lived in Caistor Twp. Ontario, Canada. First record of him is from the 1871 census but the age of his first son John (born abt 1864) indicates he was here at least by 1863. It is also known they had some family connections with Lockport as his mother-in-law was a Cooper and there was a Cooper connection to Lockport. It would appear the age for William does not match but my age could be off. I have no known family connections to William, that is no parents or siblings. The Penfold name is uncommon, the key is to find if your William appears in Lockport later on when mine is known to be in Caistor.
