I realize this could be a complete reach, but I have the following ancestry in Horsham, Sussex in the 1600s.....

1.Thomas Pilfould, b. 1582
m. 30 May, 1607 in Horsham, Sussex to Marie Mowers

2. (Son) Richard Pilford, b. 1610 Horsham
m. 24 Jul 1637 in Horsham to Elizabeth Waterton

3. (Daughter) Elizabeth Pilford, b. 1650 Horsham
m. Thomas Masters or Mugridge

Perhaps Pilford changed to Penfold??? I personally wouldn't know, but I figured it was a shot at trying, seeing that Pilfould converted to Pilford, and it's the exact same town. If any of this sounds familiar, please reply. Thanks.
