I just recieved information off of some old birth certificates that I thought might be of interest.
1.) Birth certificate for William Penketh, who was born on January 19, 1877 at Ormskirk Street, St. Helens, Lancashire. His father was James Penketh (bricklayer), and mother was Margaret Penketh (formerly Bate).
2.) Birth Certificate for James Penketh, who was born October 25, 1845 at Mount Pleasant, Green Bank, Eccleston. His father was Peter Penketh (a labourer at a copper works), and mother was Ellen Penketh (formerly Lawson).
I am hoping to establish a connection between the individuals above and my great, great grandfather William Henry Penketh, the son of James and Sarah(?). Several contradictions exist however:
1: William's birthdate from the birth certificate is not the July 22, 1876 (or 1877) that I expected.
2: William's mother (and wife of James) is given as Margaret Bate, not Sarah, as I expected.
I was wondering if anyone out there could lay claim to these Penkeths and prove that they are (or are not) the ones I am looking for. Any information you might provide would be greatly appreciated.
Warm Regards - John Davies
