In my records I have a John Penkett married to a Mary Revell and they had a daughter, Agnes, who was christened on the 19th February 1837 at St. Peter's Liverpool. My source was the IGI. You do not say whether the dates you mention were around his birth or later. Although I roughly assume fathers to be around 20 years old with their first child he could easily have been an older father. The different spelling could easily be a slip of the pen or a change of pronounciation with a scouse accent! Then again he might be a big red herring! but he's the best I can do.
