Alexander Penman and Jean Strang had 5 children: Duncan (22nd october 1749), William (19th April 1752), Helen (5th May 1754), Marion (4th april 1756) and Alexander (12th september 1763).
William married Janet Iset on 4th November 1774, they had : 7 children inclusding William (28th august 1785
William married Alison Russell, they had 4 children including Elizabeth (18th November 1810) and David.
Elizabeth married John Marshall, they had Alison (1831), Isabella (10th July 1840) and Janet 1842.
David was the first in the family for many generations to be free to seek employment outside the mining industry, and became a Master Mariner. He married Christina Anderson on 2nd January 1853. They had 6 children who died as babies, those who survived were David (1860), Christopher (1866), and William (1876). Davids' claim to fame was his concept and promotion of daylight saving in 1907.
Christopher married Jane Harriet Oliver, they had four children, including Thomas (1895 - 1970),
Thomas Penman married Beatrice Mary Fletcher, they had two children,including Thomas Oliver Penman (my father) ( 20th September 1924 - 30th July 2000
