Hi MaryAnn,
My Dad was Archibald Bowman Penman born Kirkcaldy 1888. He migrated to Auckland, New Zealand with a brother in 1900. Later his parents and ten living siblings followed.
In your posting you mentioned an Alex. That is a family name. Also, you mentioned Forrester. I had a distant relative, David Ching, who before he married changed his name by deed poll to Forrester (which was,I understand, his mother's maiden name).
My name Kinnear was my grandmother's maiden name. I had an Uncle Kinnear and now a son, Kinnear David.
Regards.
