Shelly, I am curious about your Robert and Grace Penman. Do you have any dates for this couple. My husband's gg-grandmother was Jane Penman of Lanarkshire. We have a family tradition that she came from Biggar pa. She was born 11 Nov. 1793, she married a Robert Thompson who was born in Lanark, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Jane and Robert came to the US about 1819/20 as he was first in Rhode Island by 1820 but had a child born in 1818 in Scotland. We do not know where they orginally entered this county. Robert Thompson and his wife Jane Penman followed the traditional naming scheme for the paternal grandparents and we believe they may have followed the same for the maternal grandparents. Their first daughter was named Grace. Their second son was named Robert which could be for both Jane's father and double for her husband. We have been unable to find anything about Jane's parents. We have all the records for Robert's parents and all the dates provided in the bibles have matched the parish records perfectly so we think the information that came down was reliable but have been unable to find a focus on Jane's family. Do the dates of your Robert and Grace Penman fit with this family in any way? Thanks, Sue Elfving
