Hi Barb,
I am a direct relative of the Penman line and have been researching it for some time. Many of my ancestors were in both Fayette Co, Pa and Jefferson Co, Pa. One great grandfather, John Penman was a mine supervisor in the Dubois area in Pa. in the early 1900's. A David Penman, in the 1850's, about, was a photographer. As stated on the Fed. Census.
I know they go back to Scotland, for David was an Immigrant with the rest of his family. I understand that perhaps in Scotland the name was "Penniman"? -as one goes far enough back in time.
Thanks and would be so appreciateive if you or someone could clue me in on some more people to check out.
